Welcome to our Weekly Deep Dive at Write and Grow with Anna. This is where we go deeper into focus, our writing practice, and our growth.
This post is especially for paid Write and Grow Members.
Today, we’ll go deeper into the idea of GROWTH using Substack Notes — much deeper!
Your Quick Start Notes Guide is READY and it’s FREE for you.
As I mentioned in my last post, I started on Substack to write my author newsletter on a new platform. I had no idea that it was possible to find thousands of new readers on Substack. I thought I was doing relatively well with my little newsletter of 114 subscribers.
Then I learned about Notes.
One of the newsletters I ran across encouraged writing Notes.
Another one held a Notes Challenge. I thought, Why not?
I wrote consistently, not really expecting anything. If one of my Notes for more than 2-3 likes, I was happy.
Then one day, one of my Notes went viral. On July 7, 2025, I shared my writing journey in a Note. My inbox went crazy!
Here it is again:
Long story short, I learned a lesson: Notes are powerful.
I won’t go into all the details again, but at the risk of sounding like a nag, I’ll repeat the main point:
If you want to grow your audience on Substack, the Notes feature is your superpower!
Notes are the #1 reason my Substack has grown from 114 subscribers when I started a year and a half ago to more than 3,400 today.
So — I did what all good teachers do, I decided to TEACH YOU, my subscribers to Write and Grow with Anna, how it’s done.
Today, I uploaded this guide to Gumroad, a platform I’ll tell you more about in a future post, when we talk about earning money from writing.
Today, let me just give you the guide.
Inside, you get:
14 days of prompts
14 types of Notes
Examples for each type
Templates and tips to help you gain followers and subscribers.
If you’re a free subscriber, you can still get the guide. It’s HERE. (Just not free.)
I am, however, including a link with a 100% discount for paid subscribers below.
